Outgrown your Wix or Squarespace website?

Website builders are a brilliant way to get started. Then the business grows, and you find yourself fighting the template, paying for add-ons and wondering why you don’t show up on Google. If that’s you, it may be time to move.

When it’s time to move on

  • You want pages for each service or each town you cover, and the builder makes that a slog
  • You’re paying for several apps and plug-ins to do things a better platform does as standard
  • You want to sell online properly, with stock, shipping and email marketing all talking to each other
  • The site looks like a template, because it is one
  • Nobody but you can update it, and you don’t have time

If none of those apply, stay put. A well-kept Wix or Squarespace site is fine for plenty of small businesses, and we’ll tell you so.

Moving without losing your place on Google

The scary part of switching is losing the Google rankings you’ve built up. Done carefully, you don’t. We list every page on your current site, map each old address to its new one with redirects, carry over your page titles and descriptions, and resubmit the new site to Google Search Console once it’s live.

We build on WordPress for service businesses and content-led sites, and Shopify for shops. Both are yours to own and easy to update, and both handle local SEO and growth far better than most builders. Websites start from £750. We moved our own site to a new platform this year, so we’ve done this from the client side too. More on our website design.

Switching questions

Will my domain name and email still work?

Yes. You keep your domain, and we plan the switch so your email isn’t interrupted.

Will there be any downtime?

The new site is built behind the scenes while your old one stays live. The changeover itself is usually a matter of minutes to a few hours.

Can I still edit the site myself afterwards?

Yes. We’ll show you how to change text, photos and prices, so you’re not stuck waiting on us for small jobs.
